An event is coming up in Bellingham that allows participants to play in the dirt.
Dirtastic is a festival for dirt bikers, developed for women by women, and is limited to women riders. The event is a full, three-day weekend of riding at Bellingham's Hannegan Speedway. The organizers' mission is to increase women riders' confidence, as well as encouraging women in general to ride. Mastering a skill like riding a dirt bike helps build self-esteem and feelings of empowerment.
The Main Event all three days will be riding, both MX and off-road. This will give women the chance to connect with other riders to help build a community of like-minded individuals. Those who purchase tickets for the Main Event will also be able to buy additional skill sessions. The longer, six-hour Skills Session Experience involves coaching by Dirtastic throughout the weekend; a second, one-hour, add-on session is also available. The idea of the coaching sessions is to help riders—especially those just starting out---to gain confidence in their ability to handle a bike in a fun, safe environment.
A ticket to the Main Event includes a T-shirt, two days' riding, two nights' dry camping, a raffle ticket, dinner Friday night, a swag bag.
The Dirtastic festival starts August 14 at 3:00 pm and runs through August 16 at 3:00 pm, at Hannegan Speedway. Banner printing can be used to create course markers for events like this.
