Fabulous Fibre '15 is taking place this month at the Jansen Art Center, and is presented by the Whatcom Weaver's Guild, Peach Arch Weavers and the Spinners Guild.
The keynote speaker for this year's conference is Karen Selk, who will be talking about ‘Textile treasures of Asia’. There will be workshops in a variety of topics, with instruction ranging from beginner to advanced levels. There will also be study groups for people with similar interests, and vendors who will be selling a variety of weaving, felting, and other fiber arts accessories.
The Jansen Art Center is putting on two exhibitions that are related to the conference. The ‘Fabulous Fiber 15 Instructors' Exhibit’ opened in early August and will be on display until September 25, featuring the work of those who will be teaching workshops at the conference. The next one will be the ‘Fabulous Fiber Attendees’ exhibit which opens early this month and also closes on September 25. The Center is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, but stays open until 9:00 pm on Thursdays.
This event will likely attract interested people from nearby communities such as Bellingham. Advertising may be provided by local postcard printing companies.
The conference is being held at the Jansen Art Center from September 9 - 12. Fees for the entire conference are $170, while the vendor and exhibits are free of charge. Contact Sheri War at 360-961-4956 to get the latest information.
