A Dickens of an event in Bellingham

A musical event is coming up that will help kick off the holidays in Bellingham.

The Bellingham Symphony Orchestra will be presenting its “Holiday Joy” concert, featuring works that are familiar to everyone and some that might be new to audiences. Among the familiar titles are “Silver Bells,” “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “Winter Wonderland/Let it Snow,” and “Silent Night.” Less common titles are “A Christmas Medley” and the “Chanukah Festival Overture.” The highlight of the event is “A Dickens Christmas Carol Suite,” and the concert is capped off by a rendition of “Auld Lang Syne.”

Songs come from all over the world, and the concert is suitable for the entire family. The narrator is Ramona Abbott, who is an expert in improvisation, as well as an actor and artist. She will tell the story of “A Dickens Christmas Carol Suite.” Since almost everyone knows some version of “A Christmas Carol,” having an orchestral version of the story, complete with a narrator, makes the event very special. Banner printing can be used to create suitable decorations for events like this.

There will be two chances to enjoy the concert. The event is scheduled for December 4 at 7.30 pm, and again December 5 at 3.00 pm. The location is the Mount Baker Theatre. The concert sells out quickly, so anyone interested should buy tickets soon. No pre-concert lecture has been scheduled.
