Truck education brings fun times to Colchester

The 12th Annual Touch-a-Truck will take place at Colchester, bringing a range of interesting trucks to the area. The City of Colchester presents the event each year.

Attendees will have the opportunity to sit on vehicles such as fire trucks, cranes, ambulances, tractors, helicopters, law enforcement cars, and dump trucks. Kids may climb in, on, and around most of the participating trucks as they learn about them while having lots of fun.

Some of the specific trucks will be sponsored by companies such as Harrison Redi-Mix, Mallett’s Bay Fire Department, St. Michael’s Fire, Mansfield Heliflight, and Colchester Rescue. Any other relevant companies that can supply vehicles may contact event organizers.

From 9:00 to 10:30 am, sirens will not be used. From 10:30 to 11:00 am, visitors will have the opportunity to test the air horns and sirens.

Organizers of outdoor events often use printing services to prepare signage such as banner and poster printing. Either item can be placed by the big rigs giving some general information about each one.

The Touch-a-Truck presentation will take place May 4 in the parking lot at the high school and is free to the public. Cameras are allowed and pictures are encouraged, as the children learn about the purpose of the various trucks and operational programs. The Colchester High School is located at 131 Lake Lane.
