The popular Santa Trains of the Virginia Railway Express (VRE) will be running this year. Tickets are currently on sale for trains leaving from Spotsylvania, Fredericksburg, Manassas, Burke Center, and Woodbridge.
This train ride is an opportunity for children and their families to ride a VRE train to meet Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, and their friends, all of whom will be promoting rail safety and the “Look, Listen and Live” campaign of Operation Lifesaver, which is the largest rail safety organization in the United States and was founded early in the 1970s by the Union Pacific Railroad.
Coloring Books and candy canes and other festive activities will be handed out by Santa’s helpers. The Clauses and the elves will be listening to the wishes of children and giving out goodie Bags as well.
The Santa Trains will also be working with the Toys for Tots campaign of the Marine Corps so all the train stations will be serving as drop-off locations for unwrapped toys, which will be given to those in need during the holiday season. Special events such as this one and their charitable efforts can be promoted throughout a region with poster printing.
The train ride is 75 minutes long with rides beginning at 8:30 am, and the last ride leaving at 3:30 pm. The date is Saturday, December 10.
