Leesylvania State Park in Woodbridge is now requiring reservations for those who visit it on the weekends and state and federal holidays in the summer. This reservation system is being established by the Virgina State Parks as the park reaches capacity on many of these days.
The Virginia State Park system said that this new requirement will help to ease traffic, reduce overcrowding, and protect the natural resources of the park. It will also enable visitors to plan their trip and ensure they will be admitted once they arrive at the park. Reservations are $2.00 per vehicle, which covers the transaction fee of the software vendor.
Reservations need to be made by 11:59 p.m. the day before the planned visit. Up to five reservations can be made per person. All visitors still need to pay the parking fee of $10. Flyer or poster printing can be used to provide more details about such new systems and their rules and regulations.
There are five hiking trails in the park that traverse the historical and natural features of the Potomac River. A part of the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail is also in the park. The Potomac River is also an excellent source for fishing for bass, perch, and catfish and offers a boat launch with two ramps and hoists for sailboats.
This reservation system will go into effect Saturday June 6 and run through September.
