New eatery opens in Woodbridge

The first eatery of Crimson Coward Nashville Hot Chicken on the East Coast is now open in Woodbridge. Nabil Asad and John Filipiak, veterans of the restaurant industry, will be managing the eatery.

Crimson Coward Nashville Hot Chicken offers classic Nashville hot chicken, macaroni and cheese, French fries, coleslaw and potato salad, and fried pickles. The signature dish of the restaurant is The Crimson, a boneless chicken breast served with Crimson Sauce, pickles, and the eatery’s homemade coleslaw on an artisan brioche bun. The chicken, courtesy of Nashville Hot Chicken, comes directly from the farm with which the chain has a direct relationship.

Crimson Coward was launched in 2019 with its Crimson Rub, for which six months went into research to determine the combination of spices, and an additional four months was spent meeting local chefs and sampling chicken. After working and testing 120 different combinations, the team settled on 16 primary and 32 secondary spices combined to achieve the desired flavor of the rub.

The chain currently has four locations in Los Angeles and one in Texas, and plans for 200 more locations across the United States by 2027. The owners of the Woodbridge location plan to open a second location in the area later this year.
