Home improvement store to come to Woodbridge

Gordon Plaza in North Woodbridge, which is mostly vacant, will be the home of a new Home Depot.

A rezoning and a special use permit were approved by the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, paving the way for the construction of the new home improvements outlet. Both these permits were approved by the Planning Commission of the county last November.

The Home Depot will be along Gordon Boulevard and Annapolis Way on Gordon Boulevard. It will be on 16 acres with the store covering just over 80,000 square feet. The rezoning will shift the area to general business use having previously been agricultural.

The Home Depot will also have a seasonal sales area, a garden center with a nursery, curbside pickup, limited motor vehicle rental, open space, and supplemental parking. Such sites can benefit from banner printing to inform residents of any upcoming projects.

Margaret Angela Franklin, District Supervisor of Woodbridge, expressed her thanks to Bob Weir, Gainesville Supervisor, for his help with various language and legal issues regarding the new store, and for his general enthusiasm about the project.

Franklin said that the shopping center needs a great deal of repair. She expressed her thanks to Kimco realty for helping to revitalize and beautify the area, noting that this project ties in well with the work being undertaken in the North Woodbridge corridor.
