Norfolk animal fans have the chance to attend a wild breakfast.
The Virginia Zoo is hosting its yearly ‘Rise and Shine’ breakfast with the animals. Attendees will get to enjoy breakfast while the animals eat their morning meal.
The ‘human’ breakfast will consist of several types of biscuits and jelly. There will also be assorted fruit, cereals, donuts, and beverages. During the breakfast, zoo volunteers will offer interesting tidbits of animal-related information.
Throughout the event, different animals will be given their breakfast. At 8:15 am, the red pandas, red river hogs, and kangaroos will be fed. At 8:45 am, it will be the giraffes, meerkats, reptiles, and siamangs' turn. Elephants, rhinos, zebras, and tigers are just a few of the other animals that will make an appearance during the breakfast.
This is a ‘zoo members only’ event. Membership costs $65 for individuals, $75 for duos, and $85 for families. Tickets for the breakfast cost $10 for people aged 12 and up. Admission for kids, ages 4 to 11, costs $5. Children aged three and under are free.
To spread the word about the event, postcard printing was likely used to create a direct mailer to send out to zoo members in the community.
The breakfast will take place on August 8 from 8:00 am until 10:00 am. The Virginia Zoo is located on 3500 Granby Street.
