Artist to give demonstration at Norfolk art center

Those interested in learning more about abstract realism can attend a demonstration in Norfolk this January.

Abstract Realism: An Art Chat & Demo with Ken Wright is an event offered by the d'Art Center where attendees can discover how to use realism to influence the creation of abstract art. Wright is an experienced artist from Richmond who graduated from Norfolk State University and has served on several art boards. He was also the Arts Commissioner for the State of Virginia. Wright is an author who has written Books such as Buffalo Soldier and Black Cowboy History.

The d'Art Center is an organization that helps the community connect with diverse artists and aims to promote the appreciation of visual arts. The nonprofit group serves the greater Hampton Roads area and was modeled after Alexandria's Torpedo Factory Art Center. The center hosts many exhibitions, including Adorn, Kindred, and Portrayed. There are also numerous camps offered by the organization, such as the Pottery Camp, Steam Summer Camp, and Spring Arts Camp.

The presentation and demonstration on abstract realism will be on Saturday, January 18th. The event will last from noon to 1:30 pm. There is no cost to attend Wright's presentation, though all guests should register for his demo and lecture. Attendees must be at least 6 to attend the event. Art centers that host similar demonstrations may use poster printing services to share details about their programs.
