Leesburg locals can take part in three different races in the downtown area.
The Leesburg 5K and 20K are chip-timed races that take participants on scenic routes through historic Leesburg. There will also be a quarter-mile kids’ fun run that allows participants to cross the 5K and 20K finish line.
After the races, there will be an after-party with food, music, and prizes. Participants can go into MacDowell Brew Kitchen for specials on food and drinks. It’s likely the establishment has used a business card printing service so it could have cards available on race day.
Cash prizes will be given to the top three males and females in each race. There will also be age group awards.
Through July 18, registration costs $30 for the 5K and $40 for the 20K. Between July 19 and August 13, the price increases $5. On August 14 and until race day, the price increases another $5. The kids’ fun run is free and does not require registration. Runners will be given a finisher’s medal.
It all takes place on August 16, beginning with the 20K at 7:30 am. The 5K begins at 7:45 am followed by the kids’ fun run at 7:50 am. Event day packet pick-up and registration will start at 6:30 am.
The races will be held at the Market Station, located on 203 Southeast Harrison Street.
