The Douglass Community Center in Leesburg will hold a celebration in honor of Black History Month. The celebration will be free and open to the public.
The Douglass Community Center was created out of The Historic Douglass High School Education & Development Campus, which is the home of Douglass High School. Douglass High School was the first and only Black high school in Loudoun County from 1941 until 1968. The school serves as an important communal hub for Leesburg residents and is the hosting venue for a variety of community events throughout the year.
The Black History Month Celebration will be free to attend for the community and will provide a showcase for local vendors and Black-owned businesses. There will be live performances, including both musical and interpretative acts. There will also be plenty of activities to engage the children, and families will have a selectin of local food trucks to choose from for food and beverages.
Event Banners are often featured at community festivals like this, and local Print shops with banner printing services may see an influx of business as organizers prepare decorations and promotional materials.
The Black History Celebration is scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 21 from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Douglass Community Center is located at 407 East Market Street, Leesburg.
