Leesburg film screening celebrates indigenous heritage

Next month in Leesburg, Saving the Circle will present a screening of a film featured as part of the Indigenous Women through History series.

Saving the Circle is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating people about indigenous culture, history, and values through the promotion of performance arts and media by and about indigenous peoples. These efforts include supporting and promoting live streaming events, radio, and podcasts by Native American peoples, as well as screenplays and films. The organization also holds educational seminars and training workshops about culture and commonality to strengthen ties.

The film screening will be held at the Douglass Community Center at Douglass High School. The film shown will be "Unity - Cockacoeske's Dilemma,” a short film about the life of Queen Cockacoeske of the Pamunkey tribe interwoven with contemporary interviews with Native Americans discussing both their heritage and experiences with discrimination. During the event, there will also be storytelling, a drum circle, and vendors present.

Film screenings like this may utilize printed materials such as Brochures to describe what the film and event as a whole is about. Event organizers may decide to visit local Print shops with brochure printing services to get these materials printed professionally.

The Native American Heritage Event is slated for Saturday, November 1 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Douglass Community Center is located at 705 East Market Street, Leesburg.
