This August, the Silence No More Movement (SNMM) will host an intimate ceremony in Leesburg to honor and recognize survivors of domestic violence, and the support systems that have played crucial roles in their journeys.
The 4th Annual Survivor and Support System Ceremony aims to celebrate the courage, strength, and perseverance of domestic violence survivors, highlighting their resilience in overcoming challenging circumstances. The event will acknowledge the different levels of support systems that exist for real-time victims, including friends, family, coworkers, organizations, and agencies, who often stand by them long before the involvement of the police and judiciary systems.
The ceremony also pays tribute to those who bravely share their stories to help others, recognizing their invaluable contribution to raising awareness and supporting fellow victims. The lineup includes a moving tribute to the strong victims of domestic violence, and their supporters.
The event is free to attend, although it requires reservations. The event is made possible by Susan Shields, Sherae Bell, and Kim Collins, whose donations and support have contributed to creating an empowering and supportive environment. Printing services may help to create memorabilia for honorees at events such as this one.
The ceremony will take place on Friday, August 11 at the Loudoun County Government Center at 1 Harrison Street, Leesburg. It begins at 12:00 pm and ends at 2:00 pm.
