The town of Leesburg is to host their annual winter 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run this November.
The event has aptly been titled the ´21st Annual Freeze Your Gizzard 5K Cross Country Race and 1-Mile Fun Run´. This tradition brings together the community for a day of fitness, fun, and charitable giving.
The event kicks off with the 5K race, followed by the 1-Mile Fun Run. The 5K course will go through the 138-acre terrain of Ida Lee Park. No baby strollers, dogs, or wagons will be permitted on the course because of the terrain.
Those who pre-register will receive a swag bag containing a long-sleeved t-shirt. One-mile finishers will also receive a medal. Awards will also be presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the first to third-place male and female finishers of the 5K in each age category. All participants can look forward to refreshments after both races.
This event also partners with Loudoun Hunger Relief. Participants are encouraged to bring two non-perishable food items on race day to support the charitable cause. Monetary donations are accepted online and at the event. Post-race celebrations will be hosted by Loudoun Hunger Relief.
