Storytelling festival just days away
Orem story lovers will not want to miss this year’s Timpanogos Storytelling Festival, which arrives next week.
The event has been held for 26 years and continues to serve as both entertainment and as source of connecting with storytellers, their stories, and sometimes the people or events described in them.
There are both amateur and professional storytellers involved at the event, which will bring together some of the most engaging storytellers around, give them a microphone and an audience, and let them spin their tales.
Adding to the aura, the stories are told in the outdoors, surrounded by mountains with a fresh air atmosphere. Performers at this year’s festival will include everyone from locals just getting their start, to nationally known award winners, some of whom have performed at such places as the Kennedy Center, the British National Theatre, and the Smithsonian. Attendees may want to use pictures from the event for later stationery printing.
In between performances, attendees can find something to eat (courtesy of local restaurants) and listen to various musical acts. There will also be craftspeople displaying their wares, including professional potters who will help teach those who are willing to learn the ancient art.
The Festival will begin on Thursday, September 3rd, with a kickoff called ‘Look who’s talking!’ and then will continue all day Saturday and Sunday. Times are loosely scheduled. It will be held at Mount Timpanogos Park, US 189, Orem. Tickets must be purchased in advance, and a weekend pass for one adult will cost $40.
