A workshop in Orem is preparing to teach a food preservation process this summer, equipping students with the necessary knowledge to can and preserve their produce.
The Canning & Preserving 101 Workshop, which is being led by experienced instructor Nancy Nielsen, has opened enrollment to Orem residents and visitors who want to begin canning food at home. Nielsen will share her knowledge and preservation tips to help keep this skill alive. Attendees will learn the steps and processes necessary to enjoy eating what they have grown during the summer or winter season.
The class will look at the most effective ways to store produce, including freezing, canning, dehydrating, freeze-drying, and using a root cellar. Students can choose which they want to learn the most about. It offers families the peace of mind of knowing what is and is not in the food they eat. Printing services are a fantastic resource for educational workshops like this, providing high-quality printed instructions and educational resources.
How-to demonstrations will be provided throughout the workshop, along with samples and printed recipes that students may take home, providing an opportunity for DIYers and curious learners seeking new skills.
The workshop will be held at 1248 North State Street in Orem on Saturday, August 1. The class begins at 9:00 AM. Registration costs $45 per person, and all supplies are included.
