Orem to offer peek into life in the past

A local organization in Orem will put on a display of early life in the United States in early July.

The Colonial Heritage Festival is an annual trip back in time. The Colonial Heritage Foundation creates an experience for anyone who wants to learn about how life was led during that period in history. More than 100 teachers, artisans, reenactors, and craftsmen will come together to showcase different parts of the lifestyle.

Exhibitions showcasing clothing, blacksmiths, cannons, candle making, basket making, apothecary, broom making, calligraphy, baking, and chores for kids are among the experiences guests can see and take part in. The chores include activities like grinding corn, making cords out of raffia fiber, spinning wool string, carding wool, lucet work, and carrying water.

Everyone who participates in the festival is a volunteer with a passion for sharing colonial history. The event is open to everyone and comes with no price tag. However, a donation of either $1 or $2 is suggested by the foundation. In the past, people have come from as many as 12 countries to attend or participate in the festival.

Flyer printing is commonly used as an advertising method by festivals and their organizers for promotional purposes. Information on the event can be viewed on its website. The venue for the celebration is Scera Park. July 1st, July 3rd, and July 4th are currently the dates set. Activities will last from 9:00am to 6:00pm each day.
