San Antonio to get new office tower

Weston Urban, a developer based in San Antonio, is planning to break ground some time during the winter of 2016-2017 on a new downtown office tower.

The firm, which is working with KDC to develop the project, says the 23-story structure will be made of glass, in contrast to the stone and concrete buildings that dominate most of the city’s skyline. KDC is working on the new North American Headquarters that Toyota is setting up in Plano.

The tower, which will be 400 feet tall, is a Pelli Clarke Pelli design, and culminates in a “crown” of jagged glass spires, making it unlike any other building in the city. The building will be known as the Frost Tower, with Frost Bank occupying approximately 250,000 square feet throughout the structure’s lower floors. Other tenants will have another 150,000 square feet available toward the top of the tower. The parking garage is six stories tall and wraps around the building, and there are 20,000 square feet on the ground level designated for retail use. Weston Urban hopes to attract high-end shops to those locations.

The Frost building is the first office tower to be built in the city’s downtown since 1989, when the NBC Plaza was constructed. It is expected that building the tower will take approximately two years. When complete, Frost Tower will be the sixth-tallest structure in the city.

Companies such as these can benefit by working with brochure printers, who will create materials to describe available spaces.
