San Antonio event celebrates health and cultural holiday

San Antonio residents will soon have a chance to work on their resolutions, while also honoring a widespread holiday.

The Lunar New Year Run is an event from The Best Races. It incorporates several lengths, and attendees can choose whether to track their times or not.

The offered distances include one mile, 5K, 10K, and a half-marathon. The mile option is listed as a “Family Fun Run,” making this a suitable activity for kids.

Lunar New Year marks the start of the next lunisolar calendar cycle, with China, Vietnam, and South Korea being some of the countries that celebrate the event. This will be Year of the Horse.

Registration is available through RunSignUp. For a spot that comes without the provided shirt, the fee is $30. Otherwise, the mile is $35, the 5K is $37, the 10K is $42, and the half-marathon is $45. The shirt will be sent to the runner’s home prior to the race. Once finished, a towel and medal will be given out as well.

The venue for the San Antonio run will be the Lady Bird Johnson Park. There will be three waves of start times, allowing the participants to be spread out, the times of which will be 7:30 am, 8:00 am, and 8:30 am. Many races will turn to a business with a Logo Design specialty to create an image to use on the shirts or other items they provide.

The race day is Saturday, February 7.
