Residents and visitors in San Antonio can look forward to Fiesta Noche del Rio by Alamo Kiwanis this summer. The popular festival is a celebration of dance and music featuring Flamenco guitar, mariachis, and singing and dance performances.
Noche del Rio has been a San Antonio tradition and a Riverwalk attraction for more than 64 years. The first Noche del Rio dance production was performed in 1957 by Rosita Fernandez. As of 2019, Katie Rodriguez Hall is the director for the Fiesta. She is a trained dancer and also serves as the Artistic Director for the Alamo City Performing Arts Association.
All funds raised from sales of Noche del Rio tickets go towards causes in San Antonio that help disadvantaged and underprivileged children. This year, proceeds from the event will support causes such as The Children’s Shelter, Respite Care, Children’s Bereavement Center, Any Baby Can, Boysville, and Kinetic Kids.
The tickets cost $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and military personnel, and $8 for children aged 6 to 14. Children under 6 years of age can attend free of charge. Organizers of cultural events like these often use poster printing to promote the event.
The fiesta will be held on Friday and Saturday nights from June 11 to August 7, from 8:30 pm onwards. Shows will not be performed on June 25 and 26. The venue is the Arneson River Theatre at La Villita, 418 Villita St. on the San Antonio River Walk.
