San Antonio eatery on the grow

Moses Rose's Hideout, a bar and restaurant in downtown San Antonio, is planning to expand.

The restaurant wants to change its storefront and replace it with counters. Moses hopes to put in a counter of 15 feet in width, which would extend approximately 6 feet onto the Houston Street sidewalk. The counter would have a cover of garage doors that could be opened on days when the weather cooperates.

In addition, the restaurant wants to add “custom-welded” tables, as well as replacing the concrete picnic tables located in the Maverick Breezeway alley. According to the company, adding the new, more open section will allow Moses Rose's customers to enjoy the entertainment, food, and beverages at the restaurant and, at the same time, people watch and become involved in the activity on the street. The restaurant already has a similar setup in the alley.

Staff members of the Historic and Design Review Commission, which will have the final say on the renovations, has already recommended their approval to commission members.

Moses Rose's serves fare featuring the likes of hamburgers, salads, sandwiches, and Mexican dishes. It also features beer, wine, and spirits made in Texas.

Restaurant owners might consider working with a flyer printing company on a mailer for residents, showcasing their plans to renovate and inviting visitors to stop in.
