New restaurant opens in hotel on the Riverwalk

Late in 2016, the Hotel Valencia on San Antonio's Riverwalk began a $10 million renovation, which is now complete.

One of the changes the hotel made was to replace its Citrus restaurant with Dorrego's, an Argentinian eatery. The restaurant had several ‘soft’ previews, but presented its full menu for the first time last Monday, May 15.

The restaurant is named after Plaza Dorrego, a hugely popular area in Buenos Aires, where people enjoy pubs, bars, and cafes, and often eat at outdoor tables.

The San Antonio restaurant will offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as a menu of small plates for people who get hungry throughout the day. Dorrego's bar will serve a full menu of cocktails, beer, and wine, as well as bar food.

In charge in the kitchen is Chef Anthony Mesa. Mesa has worked in restaurants in Argentina, and has devised various menu items that illustrate the way in which other cultures have influenced the cuisine of Argentina. Among the entrees are duck empanadas, short-rib ravioli, and grilled prawns served with saffron-tomato jus. Argentina is known for its meats, and grilled beef and pork cuts are featured. The restaurant opens for breakfast at 6:30 am.

Enterprises like this can thrive if managers work with a flyer printing company to create a handout to invite people to try the new restaurant.
