Jaston Williams, who is one of the creators of the “Greater Tuna” shows, plans to debut his latest effort in San Antonio.
‘A Wolverine Walks into a Bar (conversations over ice)’, is a series of monologues, some of which refer to San Antonio, where Williams spent some of his early days in theater. He says the idea of people talking in bars, where memories resurface and tongues are loosened, was too interesting to pass up.
The ‘Greater Tuna’ shows comprise a series of four plays set in a fictional community – Tuna, Texas. The plays are comedies that comment on life and attitudes in a small Southern town, and satirize them at the same time. They were written by Williams in collaboration with Ed Howard and Joe Sears.
Williams and Sears have left the ‘Tunaverse’, and since then, Williams has worked mostly on writing and performing solo productions. His first solo effort was ‘Blame it on Valentine, Texas’, which he performed in 2014 at the Classic Theatre in San Antonio for one weekend. At the moment, Williams is performing another show, ‘Maid Marian in a Stolen Car’, in Austin at the Zach Theatre.
‘Wolverine’ will run from April 1-10, at the Classic Theatre on Fredericksburg Road, at 8:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and 3:00 pm Sundays. Theater managers could work with a poster printing company to create a fun and colorful poster for the show.
