Developer considers plans for historic building

Main Street Property’s Mike Litofsky, a local developer, has purchased the Sol Frank building, an historic structure located next to Alamo Plaza in San Antonio. Litofsky is considering joining the building to the one next door, creating a space for a grocery or a high-end restaurant.

The building was scheduled to be auctioned off as a foreclosure on August 2 when Litofsky intervened. He also owns the building next to the Frank building, which is currently leased to Bazaar Istanbul, which sells jewelry, furnishings, and decorations.

Combining the buildings would result in a space totaling about 18,000 square feet, according to Litofsky. He revealed he has talked to both restaurants and grocers—the last specialty stores like Whole Foods—about moving into the space. Another option is to bring in a boutique hotel, since the buildings' basement could be used for underground parking.

In June, Taco Bell said it planned to put one of its Cantina restaurants, which serve alcohol, into the space, but Litofsky says the chain's plans are not finalized, and he would rather have someone else move in. His preference, if a restaurant does move in, is for a high-end establishment rather than a franchise. If a store moves into the space, again he would like something upscale, which will fit in with the downtown area.
