Pearland walk to take aim at PTSD

Even after they have hung up their ruck for the last time, veterans often still carry a heavy load, and a Pearland activity may help to ease the burden.

The 2023 Veterans Day Walk will be taking to the streets of Pearland, and it will show vets they have the community’s support and at the same time raise awareness about post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The proceeds will be donated to Camp Hope, which is administered by the PTSD Foundation of America, and those who require a mobility device are welcome to roll their way alongside the walkers.

The staging area for the activity will be set up at the Pearland Natatorium and Recreation Center. The registration area and opening remarks will be indoors, and 2.5-mile and 1-mile routes will both be on offer. Participants can run, walk, or roll their way along.

To thank the participants and raise awareness of the event, medals with a special graphic design will be presented to the first 200 runners or walkers to cross the finish line. They can keep them or give them to a veteran to honor their service.

This activity will hit the streets of Pearland on Saturday, November 11. The registration fee is $20 in advance and $25 at the gate. Its website provides both a registration link and more information.
