Pearland declared as young family focused

Pearland and other Houston suburbs made a good showing on NerdWallet’s list of ‘Best Places for Young Families in Texas’, with six making the top 20.

A variety of factors figured into the ranking, including the availability of jobs. As NerdWallet points out on its site, the Bureau of Labor Statistics numbers show Texas to be the fastest growing state when it comes to job growth, benefiting the cities in question. Other factors include home costs, the quality of public schools, and economic growth; all characteristics that would appeal to young families.

In addition to Pearland, which came in at #9, Friendswood (#2) and Sugar Land (#6) were in the top half of the top 20 as well. League City, The Woodland, and Spring were further down at positions 11, 12, and 20 respectively.

Among specific characteristics that played into each city’s ranking were Friendships’ income growth rate, the fourth highest in Texas. For Sugar Land, it was having the seventh-largest school district. Pearland’s ranking was positively influenced by its participation in a school anti-bullying program, called ‘No Place for Hate’.

Favorable ranking on lists such as the Best Places for Young Families in Texas can be used to attract new businesses. This can be done by enlisting a printing company to include that type of information on the city’s promotional materials.
