Annual crawfish event finds new home

This year, Pearland will keep the “bon temps” rolling at a new location with its Pearland Crawfish Festival being held next to the Pearland Parks and Recreation Center on Bailey Road.

Sponsored by the Pearland Convention and Visitors Bureau, the event, which for two years was held in Kemah, is in its third year. An anticipated 50,000lb of crawfish are expected to be boiled during the three-day event.

To remind the public of the popular upcoming event flyer, poster and banner printing services will likely be employed.

Crazy Alan’s Swamp Shack will be catering the crawfish, which will be priced at $3.99 per pound. Although they are the calling card, there will be plenty of other attractions, such as carnival rides, arts and crafts, live music on two stages, and racing armadillos and iguanas.

For those who are not fans of the spiny lobsters, there will be plenty of other food choices. Cajun specialties will include catfish sandwiches, jambalaya, boudin (French sausage), alligator, crab cakes, and gumbo. These are in addition to classic festival foods such as turkey legs, fajitas, burritos, pulled-pork sandwiches, and roasted corn.

The event runs April 10 to 12, opening every day at 11:00 am, and closing at 10:00 pm the first two days and at 6:00 pm on Sunday. Advanced online tickets are $6 per adult, or $8 at the door. Three-day passes are available online for $16 and $21 at the door.
