Knowing what to do in an emergency situation can be very important for those who spend time in the back country, and an event that will be held in Pearland will equip those who participate with skills they can use to provide wilderness first aid.
The course, which will run for 16 hours, will be spaced over two days. It will include both first aid and CPR components, and those who complete it successfully will receive a SHI certification that will be valid for three years. It will be open to anyone who is at least 14 years of age, and is recognized by all organizations that require members to have advanced wilderness first aid in their skill set.
According to the event’s organizers, the training will be fast-paced, and will give them the knowledge they need to care for someone who is ill or injured and far away from professional care. The instruction will be provided both in the classroom and through hands-on learning involving realistic scenarios, and the students will be challenged to care for mock patients so that they can put their newly acquired skills into practice. A printing services provider can be counted upon to supply manuals and other items for an event like this.
The course will be taking place in Pearland at 1000 Bass Pro Drive starting on June 9. The registration deposit to hold a seat will be $25 each.
