McKinney workshop creates new crop of sewists
Sewing may prove to be a fun and useful skill to have, and a McKinney workshop series will introduce kids to the basics of needlework.
The Sewing and Stitching Kids program coming up at Jump Into Art Studios will create a new crop of sewists. It will run for five weeks, and will kick off in mid-September.
The sessions will all run for 90 minutes, and during the first installment, the learners will each receive a beginner’s kit to help them get started. Both hand and machine sewing will be covered. The goal is for each student to complete two projects.
All materials are included. Each session can accommodate up to six participants, and there are four different start times available. Designed for youth from the age of 7 to 18, each installment will run for one and a half hours. The early afternoon timeslots are suggested for homeschoolers.
Taking part in a workshop can be a fun way to pick up the basics. A flyer printing company can prepare mailers and other materials that let the public know about activities in their own home area.
This fun introduction to both hand and machine sewing is scheduled to begin on Thursday, September 11, continuing until Thursday, October 9. At the time of writing, registrations were still being accepted.
