McKinney class introduces working with fused glass
Texas bluebonnets, which are in the legume plant family, are the official flowers of the state, and they will be the focus of a crafting activity that will work with fused glass.
Walls of Clay has organized a two-hour McKinney class that will create works of art, and the price of the project will depend on the base selected. About two weeks after the activity, the finished, fired pieces will be available for pick up.
Ticketholders can choose their glass base from the ones provided, and they will be taught how to score, cut, and layer the glass to create their masterpiece. An event suitable for beginners, everyone will receive full instruction in building their bluebonnet design. The learners are welcome to bring their own wine, beer, or other beverage to sip on while they take part. A $25 deposit is required to secure a spot. This amount will be used to help cover the cost of the materials.
Depending on the type of workshop, organizers of hands-on activities sometimes ask the attendees to sign a safety waiver or other document. These can be prepared by stationery printers in the area.
This introduction to the art of working with fused glass will be offered on Thursday, August 7 at 211 N Kentucky Street. It will start at 6:30 pm.
