The police in McKinney’s work to connect with members of the local community was recently recognized.
The City of McKinney Police Department was commended by the National Association of Town Watch for participating in the 2015 National Night Out. It took the fifth spot in Texas and the 17th in the whole country for communities with 100,000 to 300,000 residents.
In August, the police helped to organize 31 different block parties and more than 2,000 people came out to enjoy themselves and form stronger connections between the neighborhoods and the police who protect them.
The high ranking the city received reflects a range of factors, including the cooperative efforts between residents and the police in organizing the event and making sure it will be fun for all, the quality of the program that supports the National Night Out initiatives, and also the campaign to promote the evening to local citizens and encourage them to take part. The chief of police for McKinney, Greg Conley, noted that the parties also provide an opportunity for people to get to know their neighbors a little bit better and have a good time doing so. Get a Free Quote for Mailing
