When it comes to choosing plants for a McKinney garden, native species have a lot to offer, and a local pop-up sale will give the public a chance to score some for their own home plantings.
This year will mark the 36th anniversary of the Spring Native Plant Sale hosted by the Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary. Its schedule runs for two days, and it is located at 1 Nature Place.
Shoppers will have access to a wide assortment of native plants, and since they have a local provenance, they tend to perform well in area gardens. There will also be species of herbs and perennials that may be hard to find in the trade, and those who collect rare plants may welcome the opportunity to collect some new cultivars. A special section of Texas milkweeds will be on offer, and there will be volunteers on hand to answer questions and provide selection assistance. All sales will be tax free.
Keeping an annual event on budget may not always be an easy task. A banner printing company will be able to help by preparing materials that may be used year after year.
The 2025 Spring Native Plant Sale fundraiser will be open on April 12th and 13th, with an exclusive presale scheduled for Heard members only. More details for shoppers are available on the Heard Museum’s website.
