McKinney fundraiser to help keep everyones bowl full
The Empty Bowls movement has taken off in cities and towns all over North America. These events help to raise money for local food pantries while also raising awareness of the issue of hunger in the community, and McKinney has made plans to host one of its own.
The function, which will help to address hunger in northern Collin County, has been organized by St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. The first Hungry Bowls event was held in McKinney back in 2012, and it each year since, it has proven to be a success.
Those who purchase a ticket for the fundraiser will be treated to a meal in a one-of-a-kind bowl that has been created by a local artist and donated to the cause. The dinner will consist of a hearty helping of gourmet soup prepared by local chefs, and these will be accompanied by breads and desserts. Once their bowl is empty, it will be the ticket holder’s to keep, and they can take it home as a memento of the occasion and reminder that not everyone is as fortunate.
The beneficiary of the proceeds from this fundraiser will be the Community Lifeline Center. A banner can be prepared by an area banner printing company for an occasion like this to greet the guests when they arrive for their meal.
May 16 has been set as the date for this annual event. It will be organized at 111 North Tennessee Street.
