McKinney evening event to introduce owls

As they are silent hunters and not often seen, owls may seem like mysterious birds, and a McKinney outing will introduce these birds of prey to the public.

The Heard Museum has scheduled a night hike that will observe owls in their natural habitat. As only a set number of spots are available, registration must be completed in advance, and both museum members and non-members may take part.

The activity will open indoors at Laughlin Hall, and here, the attendees will be able to enjoy a presentation that will include facts about owls as well as the chance to meet some special avian guests. After this, it will be time to head outdoors and take to the venue's trails to try and spot some in the wild. Tickets start at $2.00 each, and while flashlights are welcome, they must be fitted with a red lens. Long pants, closed toed shoes and the application of bug spray are highly recommended.

A nature hike or other activity gives the public the chance to learn more about the world around them. Promotional Pens paired with a notebook may be handed out to each attendee in an event so they can jot down any observations or other points they feel are important.

This introduction to owls and their nocturnal lives will be offered on March 22nd. It will begin at 6:30 pm.
