This February, Kroger will be presenting an activity to ensure everyone in the community has healthy food in their pantry.
The 22nd annual McKinney area Empty Bowls fundraiser has come to be a local tradition, and it helps to keep the shelves at the North Texas Food Bank full. The highly anticipated Wine Pull will be back, and local artists will be lending their talents to the occasion.
In an effort to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, the organizers have made the decision to transform this fundraiser into a drive through format. Each person who purchases a ticket will be asked to arrive at the venue where the function will be held on the day of the activity, and when they do, they will receive their pre-ordered bowl box. These will contain an artisan-made soup bowl as well as a packet of gourmet-style soup mix to prepare at home.
As well as raising funds, this activity is meant to increase awareness. As the participants enjoy their soup at home, they are asked to give some thought to those living in food poverty. It was noted that everyone will receive recipe cards printed soup recipes, and such materials can be obtained from a company that prepares Letterheads and other Stationery.
The Perot Campus of the North Texas Food bank, which is located at 3677 Mapleshade Lane in Plano, is welcoming all for this special event on February 25.
