Indigo dyeing techniques have been used for many years to produce clothing and other items, and these form part of an upcoming McKinney workshop.
The staff at Jump into Art Studios will be sharing their knowledge of indigo dyeing, and the method they will teach can be used by the participants to create a variety of projects in their own homes. To make the day even more fun, everyone who Signs up is encouraged to bring a dish to share, potluck style, and they are advised to wear dark clothing as well as a pair of sturdy gloves.
The class will cover a variety of topics, including Shibori processes, which originated in Japan. The participants will discover different methods of stitching, resisting, and binding textiles, and they are asked to bring along six different items such as pillowcases, a silk scarf, or linen napkins to dye.
An event like this may be of interest to a wide audience, and a flyer printing company can be counted on to aid in spreading the word throughout the community. These can be posted in a variety of locations or sent out through the mail, and are available at a variety of price points.
Jump into Art Studios will host this day of dyeing on May 15. It will run from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm.
