Food drive to be held in McKinney

The McKinney Chamber of Commerce Leadership Alumni Network is hoping that everyone in the community can continue with their tradition of being generous to those in need with an event planned for later this week.

The group is hosting its third annual Oatmeal Drive in support of the Community Kitchen Pantry. Entertainment for the evening will be provided by Shane Fame, George Fuller, and Maylee Thomas. There will also be appetizers and a chance to socialize with others who attend the event.

The Chamber of Commerce is asking for people to each bring in 18-ounce Boxes of oatmeal as part of the admission price. Chamber representatives will gather up the boxes and use them to create a “tree” display so that people will have a chance to see for themselves how much of a difference their efforts have made. Last year, over 500lb of oatmeal was collected, and it is hoped that this year will be just as successful.

Printing companies can help by creating advertisements for the event, as well as personal Invitations to those who may be interested in attending.

The Oatmeal Drive will take place on November 21 at The Sanctuary, located at 6633 Virginia Parkway. The donations will go towards the Community Kitchen Pantry, which helps to ensure that those who need a helping hand have enough to eat.
