Houston to hold tree giveaway and planting day

Planting a tree can represent an investment in the future, and this will serve as the guiding principle for a February Houston event.

A special activity will hopefully add at least 600 trees to the city's living canopy, and the Houston public is strongly encouraged to get involved. The function is being hosted thanks to a partnership with Texas A and M Forest Service Green Futures initiative, and a giveaway day will distribute them to community members.

Everyone who attends will be able to pick a tree seedling, and these will be distributed for as long as supplies last. A call has gone out to the city seeking helping hands willing to volunteer to plant the baby trees. As they grow, the new canopy of trees will help to reduce the temperature in the surrounding area by both supplying shade and also serving as heat sinks.

Taking part in a stewardship project like this gives community members a chance to get their hands dirty while performing a good turn for their neighbors. Promotional Products may be ordered from area Print shops to thank them for their efforts.

This opportunity to give some care and attention to Kashmere Gardens is scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 11. Registrants are asked to meet up at 6405 Cavalcade Street at 9:00 am.
