Upcoming festival celebrates German culture

Oktoberfest Houston is taking place next month, offering a celebration of German food, culture, and beer.

The festival is set to feature traditional German foods like bratwurst sausage, sauerkraut, and soft pretzels. There will be a variety of international beers and wines available for purchase as well.

There will be plenty of entertainment from groups like the German Folk Dancers, The Texas Renaissance Festival and DJ Big Reeks. Musical performers will include Eurofest and Auf Geht’s, and there will also be lots of polka music.

This event is set to feature the 5th Olympiad Games. It is free to enter and sports include the stein race, a bucket race, and the brat toss. Adults can also play in the Houston SSC Fun Zone, which will feature giant Jenga and Connect 4 games.

Vendors will also be on hand to sell a variety of German-related items and official merchandise. Organizers are also still looking for volunteers.

VIP tickets are available which include complimentary food and drink, preferential seating and private bathrooms. Tickets cost $70 until August 16 and $80 after.

This event will likely attract a lot of people from Houston, and advertising items such as Flyers may have been obtained from local Print companies.

Oktoberfest Houston will be held at the Water Works on Buffalo Bayou on September 24 from 12:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Tickets are $20 until August 16, $25 until September 24, and $30 at the gate.
