Every community member can have a role to play should the worst happen, and a Houston symposium will address the topic in depth.
Ready Together has organized its “Rebuild with Readiness” activity, and it will address how households can begin the recovery process after a disaster once immediate safety concerns have passed. It may be of interest to individuals, families, and communities.
The attendees will find out how they can take steps to stabilize their household, and tips for accessing recovery resources will be shared. Everyone will learn how to document damages and losses, and details about protecting personal information will also be provided.
Along with a discussion of what to do after a disaster, facilitators will offer information on preparations that may lead to better outcomes. Topics such as insurance and preparing for weather emergencies will be reviewed.
The session will open with registration and a chance to mingle with the other attendees. Lunch will be provided and Corporate Gifts will be distributed to the first 30 attendees who submit their pre- and post-evaluations. Both adult and child tickets are on offer free of charge, although donations will be appreciated.
The Sunnyside Health and Multi-Service Center, which can be found at 4410 Reed Road in Houston, will open its doors for this activity at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 12. The training itself will start at 11:30 am.
