The Hyatt Regency Houston Galleria is officially open. According to an October 23, 2015 news item, the new hotel is sited next to The Galleria, from which it takes its name. The Galleria shopping complex comprises 2.4 million square feet, more than 400 restaurants and shops, three office towers, and two hotels, and hosts about 30 million visitors every year.
The Hyatt Regency, which is 14 stories tall, offers 325 rooms, of which 20 are suites; a heated swimming pool; a fitness center open 24 hours; a lounge; and two full-service restaurants. It also has 11,000 square feet available for conferences and meetings. The new Hyatt was developed, and is owned, by Songy Highroads LLC, which is based in Atlanta.
Todd Nocerini, COO for Songy Highroads, said the hotel could provide anything guests needed, whether they were visiting for relaxation or business. He noted that the restaurants use foods that have been sourced locally, and that the Galleria will provide the best possible shopping experience for visitors.
Songy Highroads began building the Hyatt Regency in December 2013 and is now developing another hotel, a Hyatt Place, that is also adjacent to the Galleria. This hotel will be smaller, with 156 rooms, and is slated to open early in 2016.
