Houston not-for-profit group donates 60,000

Dozens of people form Houston recently showed their care and concern for their fellow man when they assembled and packaged 60,000 meals that will soon be on their way to children in El Salvador.

The effort was organized by Stop Hunger Now (SHN), which is a not-for-profit group that has helped people in 71 different countries. The meals, which are bagged individually, each contain dehydrated vegetables, rice, vitamins, and soy flour. They will be marked with a serial number so that they can be tracked to ensure they reach the intended people. Orphanages, schools, and other relief organizations will distribute them at their final destination.

The meals have a two-year-long shelf life and cost 29ยข to produce.

Most of the volunteers who came out to the event were from Greens Bayou Biosciences, which is a subsidiary company of Syngenta. Members of Future Farmers of America from Crosby High School also took part in packing and sealing the Bags. A Stationery printing firm can produce record sheets, serial number tags, printed packing Boxes, instruction sheets for how to prepare the meals, and any other printed items that the organization needs to help it in its work. These can be created at a price that will be low enough to easily fit into their budget.

Stop Hunger Now has offices in Raleigh, Dallas, and Houston, with each hosting several donation drives a month.
