Families come in many Forms, and a Houston conference has been planned for relatives and non-family members who have taken on a parental role.
The organizers of the 16th Annual Relatives as Parents (RAP) Conference explained that it will offer a warm welcome to caregivers of a child who may have spent time in the foster care system. There is no fee being charged to the delegates, and free childcare may be available.
The activity will run throughout the morning and early afternoon, and it will offer presentations covering topics ranging from mental health to legal matters. Everyone can network and get to meet the other attendees, and while they do, they can build a strong support system for themselves and the child they care for. Lunch will be included, and registration is required.
To help make the function fun as well as informative, there will be door prize draws for an assortment of Corporate Gifts and other prizes. The DePelchin Children's Center will be the venue for the day, and it will run from 10:00 am until 1:30 pm. The winners must be on site to claim their prize if their name is chosen.
This day of learning and making connections for kinship families and those raising a child in the foster care system has a scheduled start time of 10:00 am on February 25.
