Event brings contractors and small business together

The 11th annual Contracts in Five is taking place next month, presented by Houston Public Works.

The event is designed to bring major engineering and consulting firms together with minority, women-owned and small businesses in the engineering, design, and construction fields. The aim is for some of these businesses to win major contracts.

There will be several breakout sessions held by organizations such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Harris Flood Control and the Texas Department of Transportation. Guests can also learn about a mentor protégé program.

A lunch is set to feature a speech by Houston Mayor Sylvestor Turner and a keynote by Judge Ed Emmett.

In addition, several small businesses will be showcasing their products and services in the exhibit hall. This will be an excellent networking opportunity for those attending, as well as the exhibitors.

It is likely that most of the Houston exhibitors and those planning to attend will be bringing along their Business Cards to exchange with their peers and major contractors.

The Contracts in Five showcase will be held at the George R. Brown Convention Center on May 3 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Admission is free and lunch is $50 per person. For more information about this annual event, contact Houston Public Works at 832-395-2500.
