The 18th annual Houston Dragon Boat Festival is taking place next month, and is a presentation of the Texas Dragon Boat Association and the Asian/Pacific American Heritage Association.
Over 30 teams are expected to compete, with races to be held over 15 or 20 minutes. Teams will consist of community groups and local corporations. Sponsorships are available from $2,700, which covers a corporate team of 25 up to $20,000 for title sponsorship. In between, sponsors can fund separate zones, entertainment, and event T-Shirts; they will also be mentioned in the event program.
In addition to the races, the festival will feature cultural performances, live music and a kids’ zone. There will also be food concessions and local vendors selling related and general merchandise.
Raffle tickets are available for a $10 donation, and funds will be donated to the Texas Dragon Boat Association.
Organizers are still looking for volunteers to help ensure the festival runs smoothly. There are openings to help on the dock, with boats, or at information booths.
