Several cultural festivals are held each year in Houston to celebrate the varied ancestry of residents. The next festival coming up is the Indonesian Festival, which will take place for two days next month.
It is presented by the Indonesian American Chamber of Commerce and the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia.
There will be plenty of traditional foods and drinks available for sale, as well as a variety of cultural performances involving dance and music. There will also be an appearance by a Komodo dragon, coffee-tasting, and a fashion and jewelry show.
There will be a kids’ zone with lots of family-friendly games and entertainment. Guests can also try their hand at batik making or pose for pictures in the photo booth.
A popular part of the festival is sure to be the bazaar. A number of vendors will be on hand to sell Indonesian-related merchandise and food.
Sponsorships are still available for $100 up to $25,000. Houston Print shops are often asked to provide printed advertisement to help spread word of these types of events.
The Indonesian Festival will be held on December 1 at Jones Plaza, and on December 2 at the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia. Tickets are $7 each. For the most current information about this event, contact Inta Bozkurt at 713-363-0068.
