Conference brings health professionals together to learn

The One Health Conference is taking place next month in Houston for two days. The event is presented by Harris County Public Health, Baylor College of Medicine – National School of Tropical Medicine and the Texas Children’s Hospital.

The theme of the conference is “One health, one goal” and it will feature environmental, medical, and veterinary information. Continuing education credits will be available to doctors, nurses, veterinarians, and veterinary technicians.

There are set to be 32 speakers taking part in this event, including keynote speakers Mattress Mack and Dr. Bruce S. Ribner. Other speakers will include Jelani Daniel, Dr. Peter J. Hotez, and Dr. Shital M. Patel. Topics of discussion will be varied including infectious diseases like Zika, chronic diseases, Hurricane Harvey aftermath, antibiotic resistance, snake bites, and the human-animal bond.

Lunch will be included for all attendees and there will be a networking reception at the end of the first day, where guests will be treated to appetizers, a cash bar, a DJ, and door prizes.

Many of those attending may decide to place a business card printing order with their favorite Houston printing company, as there will be many opportunities to exchange cards.
