Annual festival celebrates the mudbugs

The annual Heights Crawfish Festival is taking place next month in Houston. It is a presentation of the Greater Heights Area Chamber of Commerce.

The main draw of the event is the crawfish; guests will be able to eat as much as they can handle during the day-long festival. There will be other food available, and there will also be beer, soft drinks, and water to purchase. Music will be provided by The Zydeco Dots.

Local vendors will be on hand to sell their merchandise such as arts and crafts, cosmetics, clothing and other general products. Many of the vendors will be holding prize giveaways for people who sign up at their booths. Some of the vendors will also be providing children's activities such as bounce houses.

Crawfish bucks are $1 each. Packages for $20 or $100 can be bought - $20 will buy the ticket holder a crawfish plate with crawfish, corn and potatoes while a soft drink will cost $2. Sponsorship can be purchased for $500 up to $5,000.

Houston vendors participating in events such as this often contact their local banner printing firms to provide them with signage for their booths.

The festival will be held at 411 West 20th Street on March 7 from 10:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Admission is free of charge. Call 713-861-6734 for the latest information.
