The 5th annual Diamond Dreams Gala is taking place this month in Houston. It is a presentation of the Astros Foundation and a fundraiser for New Hope Housing.
Each year the field at Minute Maid Park is taken over for a party. Guests enjoy a sit-down dinner, dessert and a cash bar. Last year's event sold out and also included live and silent auctions which will likely be held this year also.
The gala attracts many current Houston Astros players and alumni, as well as coaches, training staff and owners.
The event also includes a live concert by one of the biggest acts in the country. This year's performer will be Lionel Richie who has had a very successful career beginning with the Commodores and then as a solo performer.
New Hope Housing is dedicated to supporting the homeless of Houston. They seek to provide affordable housing so that fewer people will be living on the streets. They also give emotional and financial support.
